4.25x2.75" Holy Card. Card stock. Matt finish. Good quality.
This holy card is one of our all-time favorites and one of the most popular holy cards ever made. Jesus Offering the Eucharist, printed about 1910 by the Bouasse-Jeune company of Paris. The flowers and curly cues place it towards the end of Art Nouveau period. The hollyhocks are not just a gorgeous decorative element, but also traditional symbols of eternal life and resurrection. We think the colors in this one are subtle and exquisite; we are very fond of it. It is the companion piece to Our Lady of the Lilies, which we also offer.
The quote on the front means, "Who has Jesus has all." It is a phrase often associated with St. Thérèse of Lisieux, but she was echoing Monsignor Jean-Jacques Olier, a hero of 17th Century French Catholicism. On the back is a traditional Catholic prayer, the Anima Christa, or Soul of Christ. It dates back to at least the 1300s and is still very popular today. When we have the Eucharist, we have Jesus. We have all. This is an excellent prayer to say at the end of Mass.
