Saint Rita of Cassia, Italy (1381-1457) was a wife and mother of 2 sons. Her husband was killed, and so their sons vowed to avenge the death of their father. Rita prayed valiantly for them, and they both died before they could commit the mortal sin of murder.

When she was left alone, she lived the remainder of her life as a consecrated religious in an Augustinian convent. Miracles occurred through her intercession even before her death.

She also received the gift of partial stigmata during a time of prayer when a thorn from a crucifix flew off and pierced her forehead.

Sue painted the original of this print in acrylics.

Feast Day: May 22

IMPORTANT: Each of the 3 sizes indicates outside dimensions. There is a border of white left around the image, approximately 1 1/2" to 2" all around.
