Just like the Catholic Church has a devotion for each day of the year, we also have a devotion for each month of the year. February is the month of the Holy Family. In honor of that, we have restored two beautiful Holy Family prayer cards for you to help your devotion to the Holy Family.
The Holy Family are the model of love, a perfect example of the domestic church, and serve as our friends and protectors, knowing firsthand themselves the challenges and difficulties we face in life as families. For the reverse side, we have chosen a traditional Catholic prayer invoking the Holy Family for the help and protection of our family and all the families of the world.
We're particularly fond of the colors of this card that comes from the St. Augustine Society, a major Catholic publisher of their day. They were from Bruges, Belgium, which they always called 'the Little Paris." Ironically, their art style is always more German, with a big does of tenor in their pitch compared with the French ards of their day. We especially like the representation of God the Father and the Holy Spirit lining up with Jesus, who is at the center of the Holy Family. Formal and intellectual, the St. Augustine cards also have a tendency towards bright colors and lovely decoration.
