Leonie Martin was called "the troubled sister" of the Martin family, which included her sister, St. Therese of Lisieux and her Sainted parents, Zelie and Louis.

She was troubled by ill health as a child, abused by a maidservant, expelled from school, and isolated even within her own family. She tried on several occasions over the course of 13 years to enter into a convent, but kept failing at that.

Over that time, she was greatly encouraged by the little one, Therese, who was also comforting Celine. Finally, in 1899 she entered the Visitation Sisters again, and in 1890 succeeded in becoming a member, taking the name "Françoise-Thérèse".

She was happy the rest of her life, even with continued health problems. She said "I am very happy--as happy as it is possible to be on this earth.... in this loveliest anteroom of heaven". (source: leoniemartin.org)

Servant of God is the first step towards Sainthood. The next step is to be declared Venerable.

See the picture we've included in this listing of Cousin Marie "joking" on her. At first it looked funny to us, and Marie looked adorable, until we learned of Leonie's life. Ah! Marie's still adorable, but none of us are perfect.

!!!IMPORTANT !!! The Image is smaller than the paper! There is a blank white margin around the paper, 1/2" for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11", and 1.6" for 11x14". This border gives our pictures a finished look when framed without a matt.

- Acid-free paper.
- Archival pigments, rated to last for generations without fading.
- Cardboard backer.
- Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag
- Comes with the above story of the image.
