This gorgeous picture of Jesus being adored by the angels glows with light and intensity. Mary is presenting her child; already she is modestly working so our focus can be on her son. The boy Jesus has his arms outstretched, reaching for us in a triumphant, cross-shaped position. Visually, it echoes the composition of William Bouguereau's "The Virgin with the Angels." Mary and Jesus are on top of something like a manger, but it is more a wheat bundle, wheat being what the host is transubstantiated out of.
This dreamy, beautiful picture is a piece of devotional art. It hangs in the Notre Dame Catholic Cathedral, Ottawa, Ontario. We show a picture of the chapel it hangs in. You can see more of the lovely chapel and church at notredameottawa.com
Cleto Luzzi (Italian, 1884 - 1952) made his living doing incidental pictures of lavish scenes from the 1700s. At least that's what shows up most today. We've found a few religious pictures of his online. We don't know if this picture was commissioned for the church or not. To the right, we show the picture as it currently framed in the chapel, for your interest.
** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a white border of about 0.5" inch for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11", or 1.6" for 11x14" pictures. All Approx! Fine art printers do this because the images are almost never the same rectangular ratio of the standard paper sizes. It also gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in a frame without a matt.
- Acid-free paper
- Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.
- Cardboard backer
- Above story of the art
- Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.
Thanks for your interest!
Thanks!
