New! Catholic Valentine – pack of 10/100/1000 – Restored Vintage Holy Card
New! Catholic Valentine – pack of 10/100/1000 – Restored Vintage Holy Card
4.25x2.75" Holy Card / Prayer Card / Valentine!
This lovely new Catholic Valentine is based on a vintage French Holy Card from the 1890s, and it has a flowered heart with a dove in the middle. Doves mean the holy spirit or the souls who are flying to God. Flowers indicate virtue or the joyful, devout life. The words mean, "We must always pray for the Holy Spirit to pour out his gifts and graces on us." But honestly, they had us with the heart-shaped wreath of flowers and the cross.
Christianity is the religion of love, and people don't know that. Our God says to love him and to love each other, and that's the main thing for us as Christians. You can hand these out to people and tell them that.
Thank you for your interest.
Love and Mercy to You,
Sue and John <3

The original publisher, L. Dopter, was one of the main holy card publishers in Paris. They all worked near the Church of Saint Sulpice in the Latin Quarter, and the style of art they developed was call Sulpician. It is marked by a soft warmth, with symbols, such as doves and flowers. This was Paris in the 1890s, one of the greatest periods of Western Art. We LOVE holy cards from this period and thank you for sharing that with us.
