I make these ornaments of glass and lead-free solder. They measure 1 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches. Same image both sides.
We love the colors in this image, the elegance and beauty of Enrique Vidal's Mary, the tenderness of her love and the sweetness of her child. There is a gentle intimacy between them and at the same time there is majesty in their bearing. And did we mention the colors? That teal-blue gown with the gold background just knocks us out! This is a beautiful devotional piece that would look good in any home and help focus the faith of all who see it. The original, done by Enric Monserdà Vidal (1850 - 1926), is on a wood panel in a church in Spain.
Enric Monserdà Vidal was a painter, decorator, furniture maker, and an artistic director for church restoration projects. He was born in Calle de la Palla, Spain, and did most of his work in Barcelona. He mostly did religious work. He came from a close-knit, pious, and creative family. His sister was a writer, Dolors Monserdà i Vidal, who was famous in her day. His style is mixed medievalism , orientalism, and neogothic.
