Heaven and Earth
by Clayton and Bell

This beautiful piece is part of a larger mural illustrating Bible stories and emphasizing that God is the Creator of all things in Heaven and Earth. The first one, which we carry elsewhere in our shop, admonishes the view to "Worship Him Who Made" and this is the next one in the series, telling us he made "Heaven and Earth." God's sparkling creation, an immense thing of wonder and beauty.

The mural is from St. Michael and All the Angels Church of East Yorkshire. The church was originally built about 1132 A.D., but by the 19th Century it was in need of considerable repairs and refurnishing. The firm of Clayton and Bell, primarily known for their stained glass, were hired to do the murals. We don't know if this particular style had a name, but it is visibly part of that river of Western art that flows from Romanticism through Pre-Raphaelite and Art Nouveau to 60s art and Peter Max. We think it's beautiful. Enjoy!

Here is the first one in the series: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1211475913/worship-him-who-made-4-sizes

** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a white border all around the image of about .5" for 5x7, 1.3" for 8.5x11, 1.6" for 11x14, and 1.75" for 13x17". All Approx! The white space around picture means the image is smaller than the paper. It gives the framed picture a matted look without using a matt.
