New! Let the LIttle Children Come unto Me – Fritz von Uhde – Beautiful Catholic Art – Archival Quality

This dear picture depicts the love Jesus has for children and for those who have a child-like heart. We especially like the little baby plopped down by the door. It is an illustration of what Jesus said in Matthew 19:14, "Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs." The phrase ‘to such as these’ means we can all, all us grown-ups included, seek the innocence in our hearts and surrender our trust to him, he who is utterly worthy of all our trust.

Fritz von Uhde (1848–1911) was a German painter, born into a wealthy family. He studied art for one year before joining the Saxon army in 1867. He was an officer and fought in several battles before leaving the army 11 years later in 1878. He resumed his study of art—the old Dutch masters being his favorites—and went on to became a widely popular painter.

He said this about his art, "Many of the French artists wished to find the light in Nature. I wished to find the light within the figure that I was presenting. In Christ I grasped the embodiment of the outward and the inward light."

In the 1880s he began painting biblical subjects, and he completed a total of 78 religious works over his lifetime. We hope to list many of his beautiful paintings. They are really amazing. His style was naturalistic and impressionistic at the same time. He was married and had three daughters. He sailed off to his rest in 1911. This painting was done in 1884. ** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a blank border around the image. Approximately 0.5" wide for 5x7, 1.3" for 8.5x11, 1.6" for 11x14, and 1.75" for 13x17 and 16x20. For the two poster sizes, 18x24 and 24x36, we use 0.5" borders. We do this because the ratio of the rectangle of the art almost never matches the rectangle of the paper, and if it did happen to match one size, it would not match the others. Most fine art printers do this because otherwise they’d have to crop the art or warp it to make it fit the paper. The border looks good. It gives the picture a faux matted appearance.

There is almost always a little more border either on the left-right sides, or the top-bottom, depending on whether the ratio of the art is wider or taller than the paper.
