This lovely, colorful piece has Mary and Jesus warmly receiving a mother with her three daughters and infant son. The girls are shy and devout, and their baby brother is presenting a garland of flowers. He's a flower himself, a mystic rose. So are his sisters. We mean, they are innocent and beautiful. We all stand before God without pretense.
František Dvořák (1862–1927) was a Czech painter. Born the son of a tailor, when he was fourteen, his father sent him to school in Kutná Hora. At seventeen, he entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, and soon after that, he transferred to the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, and then 1883, to the one in Munich.
All that training paid off, and he became a popular artist in Berlin and Vienna. He moved to Philadelphia a few years later, and became a big success in the U.S. In 1905, he returned to Prague, and spent the rest of his life there. His paintings are all lush and beautiful, carefully constructed, and he has many Catholic themes which we hope to carry. Oil on Canvas. 50x60 inches.
** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a blank border all around the image of about .5" for 5x7, 1.3" for 8.5x11, 1.6" for 11x14, and 1.75" for 13x17" and 16x20" (shown in the last photo). All Approx! The white space gives the framed picture a finished look without using a mat.
*POSTERS ARE PRINTED WITH SMALL BORDER* This is to preserve the dimensions of the original artwork.
– Acid-free paper
– Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.
