New! Sacred Heart of Jesus, I Trust in You – based on a Vintage French Holy Card – Catholic Art Print
We admired this handsome card for some time. It looks like a certificate to display, and we think it was meant to be put on a wall of a home as a way of honoring the Sacred Heart. That would fulfill one of the promises of the Sacred Heart made to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque.
As a wall decoration, it operates on the third promise to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a French nun, which is, "I will bless every place in which an image of my Heart is exposed and honored." There were 12 total promises Jesus gave St. Margaret Mary, and we've included all 12 below. They are worth reviewing if you haven't read them or haven't re-read them in a while.
The translation of the front is, "Sacred Heart of Jesus, I Trust in You. (ind. 300 days each time. Pius X. June 5, 1906)." (or, I have confidence in You.) As for that indulgence by St. Piux X, we've not researched it yet, but we're guessing it was something he added on the promise of displaying and honoring the Sacred Heart. Devotion to the Sacred Heart, though ancient, had become very popular in the 19th Century. As we have found several other cards like this from different printing companies about the same time that say the same thing, we think they all came out after St. Pius X declared that indulgence.
The Sacred Heart refers to the interior life of Jesus, His thoughts, will, and emotions. That he invites us into such intimacy is astonishing. What incredible love He has for us, to want us that close to him.
12 Promises of the Sacred Heart
I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
I will establish peace in their families.
I will bless every home in which an image of My Heart is exposed and honored.
I will console them in all their difficulties.
I will be their refuge during life and especially at the hour of death.
I will shed abundant blessing upon all their undertakings.
Sinners shall find in My Heart a fountain and boundless ocean of mercy.
Tepid souls shall become fervent.
Fervent souls shall rise speedily to great perfection.
I will give to priests the power of touching the hardest hearts.
Those who propagate this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart never to be blotted out.
I promise you, in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all who communicate on the First Friday of the month for nine consecutive months the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My displeasure nor without their last Sacraments: “My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.”
An article on EWTN.com said that Philip Kemper of Dayton, Ohio, had discerned the 12 Promises from a close reading of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque's descriptions of her visions of Jesus.

** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a blank border around the image. Approximately 0.5" wide for 5x7, 1.3" for 8.5x11, 1.6" for 11x14, and 1.75" for 13x17 and 16x20. For the two poster sizes, 18x24 and 24x36, we use 0.5" borders. We do this because the ratio of the rectangle of the art almost never matches the rectangle of the paper, and if it did happen to match one size, it would not match the others. Most fine art printers do this because otherwise they’d have to crop the art or warp it to make it fit the paper. The border looks good. It gives the picture a faux matted appearance.
There is almost always a little more border either on the left-right sides, or the top-bottom, depending on whether the ratio of the art is wider or taller than the paper.
We make Archival Quality fine art prints:
– Acid-free paper
– Archival pigments
– Cardboard backer for sizes 11x14 and less.
– Above story of the art
– Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal-clear bag.
– Rated to last 200+ years without fading if kept dry and out of the direct sun.
Thanks for your interest!
