In this pretty image of the often-neglected St. Joseph, holding the child Jesus, we are invited into a closer connection with the two of them. The French phrase, Ami du Sacre Coeur is translated Love of the Sacred Heart, or Friend of the Sacred Heart, and both convey the loving relationship they had which we are privileged to join if we wish.

Jesus is holding his own Sacred Heart. It is very rare in Catholic art to get these two powerful Icons in this same image: St. Joseph and The Sacred Heart. We have looked for years, and this is just the second one we've come across that we thought was beautiful. We think the colors are lovely, the design beguiling, and we especially like having a young, handsome Joseph. He is often portrayed as an old man to suggest that only old age could have reasonably kept his purity, but we think this does a disservice to the great Saint. Historically, it is likely he was in his twenties, maybe his thirties, when he was married to Mary. He was perhaps as close to perfect as any man ever was, besides his Divine Step-son.

He holds the lily, representing his purity, and the borders are made with lilies and roses, purity and love. The Church symbolism at his feet remind us he is a patron Saint of the Church. In this picture, Joseph and Jesus are enclosed in a mandorla, a halo-like artistic device used since the Middle Ages to suggest holiness. Kuhlen and Gladbach were one of the great German holy card and religious printers of the 19th Century.

There was some staining and discoloration on this long out-of-copyright image. We spent time restoring it to its original beauty. Overall, there are tens of thousands of good Catholic images out there, but we work to bring you just the few we love, and to make them as perfect as we can. We want to curate a collection that brings you joy. St. Pope John Paul II said, "In order to communicate the message entrusted to her by Christ, the Church needs art."

** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a white border of about 0.5" inch for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11", or 1.6" for 11x14" pictures. All Approx! Fine art printers do this because the images are almost never the same rectangular ratio of the standard paper sizes. It also gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in a frame without a matt.

- Acid-free paper
- Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.
- Cardboard backer
- Above story of the art
- Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.

Thanks for your interest!

Thanks!
