That moment when Mary, the best among us, said yes to God, and Jesus came to Earth, that is one of our favorite moments in history. This vintage holy card lithograph from Italy shares a vision of that moment using some lovely elements. The angel Gabrel is coming in on clouds. Mary has been praying, opening up her heart to God. That is when the angel comes, not when she's washing dishes or something. She was pure -- that's what all the lilies in the picture mean -- and she was devout. Her whole life was a Yes to God.
The overall coloring of this card is beautiful and sublte. It is a classic comosition, too, with the powerful angel looming over the compliant maidservant of the Lord. We like looking at this image. It is an old lithograph, so it is soft compared with a sharp modern picture. But it was rich in ink when it was printed, so the print looks good even in larger sizes. We hope to offer it soon as a holy card, too.
** IMPORTANT ** The image is smaller than the paper! There is a white border of about 0.5" inch for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11, or 1.6" for 11x14" pictures. Fine art printers do this because the images are usually different ratios than the rectangles of the paper. It gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in frames without using a matt.
– Acid-free paper
– Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.
– Cardboard backer
– Above story of the art
– Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.
Thanks for your interest!
Thanks!
