Sometimes we think we could have a shop with just our favorite Annunciation pictures in it. It is such a wonderful and profound moment, the union of Heaven and Earth.
Even a shop with just Annunciations by the artist Mikhail Nesterov. He was a symbolist painter of the turn of the last century. He did mostly religious subjects, and he clearly had a deep heart for Mary and especially this moment. He always captures the delicacy as well as the the profundity of it.
We love how sweet and vulnerable Mary looks in this one. How gentle the whole scene is. Nesterov has several more Annunications, and they're all wonderful. We'll likely carry them all someday. This subject in a painting, this is the beginning of the Salvation of the World. And it starts so small.
** IMPORTANT ** THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a white border of about 0.5" inch for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11", or 1.6" for 11x14" pictures and larger. All Approx! Fine art printers do this because the images are almost never the same rectangular ratio of the standard paper sizes. It gives the prints a finished look, and lets them look good in a frame without a matt.
- Acid-free paper
- Archival pigments, rated to last for generations.
- Cardboard backer
- Above story of the art
- Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag.
Thanks for your interest!
Thanks!
