This beautiful and reverent image of Jesus on the Cross has an angel collecting his Precious Blood in a chalice. It is the blood of the newcovenant, which he made a sacrament the night before at the Last Supper. As Jesus said, it will be shed for you for the forgiveness of sins.
On the back is a traditional Catholic prayer regarding the Precious Blood.
We find this card beautiful but also solemn, reflecting the darkness of the world during his crucifixion.
The German on the front reads, "He has set free all those who, through the fear of death, have been subject to bondage all their lives."
July is the commemorative month of the Precious Blood in the Catholic Church. We think it was the Catholic Church that started the "Month of..." business that is now so widely copied by everything.
