This is one of the prettiest and most colorful pictures we've ever seen of the Holy Family. It was printed at the turn of the previous century by Catholic publishing giant St. Augustine Society, located in Bruges, Belgium, which they always called "The Little Paris."
Besides its gorgeous colors, one of the things we like about this holy card is that it not only shows the Holy Family, with Jesus in the middle between Mary and Joseph, but it also represents God the Father and the Holy Spirit, which is rarely done in pictures of the Holy Family. We can't think of where else we've seen it. We think this print looks great in a den or kitchen, or any place you'd like a little reminder of the presence and care of all three members of the Holy Family.
We think this makes a great reminder that our Christian families are modeled after the Holy Family, especially when we let the Trinity remain inserted in our lives, uniting us in their love. And we can think of the Holy Family and ask for their love and help. Here is a prayer we hope to put on the back of the holy card we intend to offer soon:
Prayer to the Holy Family
O Jesus, look graciously upon our family. we ask that our home may always be a shrine of peace, purity, love, and faith. Protect and bless all of us, both absent and present, and be merciful to those departed.
O Mary, loving Mother of Jesus, and our Mother, pray to Jesus for our family, for all the families of the world, to guard the cradle of the newborn, the schools of the young, and their vocations.
O Joseph, holy Guardian of Jesus and Mary, assist us by your prayers in all the necessities of life. Be present at the pillow of the sick and dying so that we may all be united to Jesus and Mary and you for all eternity. Amen.
